Description

• Watering: Water dahlias deeply once or twice a week, or more in hot weather. Water at the base of the plant, not from overhead.
• Soil: Dahlias grow best in rich, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5. If your soil is heavy clay, you can add compost or aged manure to improve drainage.
• Sunlight: Dahlias need 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight, especially in the morning.
• Fertilizing: Fertilize monthly with a water-soluble fertilizer, or scatter ½ cup of 5-10-10 fertilizer around the root zone twice during the growing season.
• Support: Provide a support structure for large dahlias to keep their heavy blooms from bending over.
